I would like to see green technology incorporated into ANY new construction. I do not want to see Eau Calire fall behind in this regard. We need to continue UWEC's mark of 'excellence' in more than just adademics.

I want to see green technology in Davies. Other UW schools are doing it, and it has been proving to save them money. It may cost more in some areas, but it will pay for itself in the long run!

I would like to see green technology implemented in the construction of the new davies center. I also want to see spaces open for local businesses to operate in instead of large corporation. The more this campus creates tangible connections with the local outside community, the less it will spend on expensive contracts with distant people who are out of touch with what the students who live here want. If money is kept locally, there will be less cost to the environment because of emissions from distant transportation.

I think we should look to the new student center at River Falls for green technology and use of space--It appears they have created a well designed, well-liked space.

The new Student Union Center should be located on the south side and attached to Zorn Arena. This would provide a face to the university to traffic coming from State Street. This is assuming that Brewer Hall is demolished and the Education Department is moved elsewhere.
This would provide dining resources adjacent to Zorn Arena.
No trees would have to be removed for this development.
This would leave Putnam Creek more pristine -- and "green."
The Education department is supposed to be set up in Davies Center. The east end of Davies Center could eventually be demolished, leaving more green/quad space, and the west end of Davies Center would then be used for permanent Education Department use.
This is planning for the future.

If the Student Union Center ends up wedged between the Library and the Nursing Building, then I propose that a 2nd floor skywalk be installed to join Nursing, the Student Union Center, and the Library -- which would then provide indoor access from the Nursing Building all the way to Schofield Hall.

Addressing the net loss in parking due to this project, locating the Student Union Center adjacent to Zorn Arena would leave parking as it is now.
If a net loss does result, I recommend that the area south of the Philips parking lot be expanded to increase parking, which would result in an increase of approximately 450 parking spaces, thereby alleviating the parking shortage, given the number of faculty and students at UW-Eau Claire.
